Promoter confirms 9-year-old killed at Miami festival

Miami – A 9-year-old boy who was injured during a music festival has died.

Musicians Marcellus Williams and Crystal Bey, founders of the festival, said in a statement that they were taking a moment to share their condolences with the family of Abelardo Saenz “who has passed away following his injury in Miami”.

“We ask that you respect our family’s privacy during this difficult time,” Williams and Bey wrote.

They had not announced the death when they posted a statement thanking people for their prayers and well wishes for Abelardo Saenz, their “old friend”, but Williams confirmed via social media that it was true and that they have offered assistance to the family.

“Praying for the family and friends of our boy,” tweeted the entrepreneur.

The festival had originally cancelled the festival after massive overcrowding, but later moved it to FIU Stadium instead of kicking it out completely.

“We’re concerned for our friends, families and fans who were in attendance. We have since moved the event to FIU Stadium on Friday instead of FIU Stadium [Saturday] night,” Bey tweeted.

Almost 48 hours after it started, the first batch of artists have taken to Twitter to mourn the loss of their friend.

“Too soon!” tweeted Van Hunt.
