Today’s news focuses on the latest update on the coronavirus, who has now died in Quebec, and an Ontario health authority is adopting a precautionary national approach to healthcare workers going to provincial legislatures for Ebola updates

Circumventing the well-established public health approach to public health officials in Africa, the Ontario government has told healthcare workers to get vaccinated if they are expected to attend provincial legislatures to speak out on Ebola. While the new policy was adopted on a Provincial Level and not at the Federal level, health ministry officials say it’s based on what they learned while monitoring the Ebola issue in Sierra Leone. Albert Einstein Hospital in Toronto, Ontario is the provincial authority’s first stop this week on the provincial front, where they will be informing both civil servants and other Ontario workers at events on Tuesday about the vaccine.

In the eastern and central regions of the country, more than 30 healthcare workers are being quarantined for possible signs of the virus after Quebec Public Health officials found that one person who worked in an Ontario nursing home had been there and has not been tested. Forty other health workers from the facility in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, are undergoing Ebola education sessions.
